Laura Culley, MD, MPH

Dr. Laura Culley, the UNLV School of Medicine Associate Dean of Community Engagement, has more than 25 years of experience as a board-certified physician in internal medicine, serving in leadership positions with two medical practices in New York City and Las Vegas.

She previously served as medical director of Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada. For nearly 30 years, Dr. Culley operated a private practice in New York City and then Las Vegas.

Badrunnisa Hanif, MD

Dr. Badrunnisa Hanif, MD, FACP, Board Certified in Internal Medicine since 2002 is an assistant professor in the UNLV School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine. She was graduated from Sindh Medical College in Karachi, in 1996, and completed her residency training in 2002 from the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine.

Nazia Khan, MD

Dr. Nazia Khan, an assistant professor in the UNLV School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, received her medical degree at Dow Medical College in Pakistan.

Board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she completed a residency at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine.

Her research includes work done at the LDS Hospital Cardiovascular Research Division in Salt Lake City, UT.

Jahan Riaz, MD

Dr Jahan Z Riaz is a graduate of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College,Pakistan. He did Internal Medicine Residency Training at St Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Riaz has worked as a Hospital Medicine Specialist at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Pine Bluff, Arkansas and the Veterans Hospital, that is also in Little Rock. He has served as a part-time Clinical Instructor at the University Of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor and Attending Physician at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Medicine.

Ashley Sarasan, MD

Dr. Ashley Sarasan, who completed a fellowship in geriatrics at the Mayo Clinic, is a UNLV School of Medicine Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine with clinical interests that include Parkinson’s disease, end of life care and Alzheimer’s disease.

A graduate of India’s M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, Dr. Sarasan completed her residency in internal medicine at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, a major clinical affiliate of Rutgers  Biomedical and Health Sciences in New Jersey.

Aditi Singh, MD

Dr. Aditi Singh, an associate professor in the UNLV School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, is associate medical director of the internal medicine residency program. 

A graduate of the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine, she cares for patients in the areas of preventative medicine, diabetes, hypertension management and women’s health. 

Director of ambulatory education in the internal medicine program, Dr. Singh is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Misti Song, MD

Dr. Misti Song, an assistant professor in the UNLV School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, received her medical degree from Loma Linda University. 

She is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. 

Dr. Song completed a residency at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine.

She has more than 20 years of diverse experience.

John Varras, MD

Dr. John Varras, is a professor at UNLV School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine. He attended medical school at Creighton University in Nebraska, where he also completed his residency. 

He is the former chair for the department of internal medicine at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine. Under his leadership, the department of internal medicine expanded the size of the residency training program and started three new fellowships in cardiology, gastroenterology, and pulmonary and critical care.

Sandhya Wahi-Gururaj, MD

Dr. Sandhya Wahi-Gururaj, an associate professor in the UNLV School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, is a board-certified general internist and currently serves as the internal medicine residency program director. 

A member of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Wahi-Gururaj has helped to shape curricula and training programs for local fellows and residents while maintaining a clinical presence that centers on establishing long-lasting, communicative relationships with her primary care patients.

Ji Won Yoo, MD, MS

Ji Won Yoo, MD, is a Korean-speaking clinician and health service researcher with a long-term goal to improve decision-making processes and clinical outcomes for vulnerable adults who can easily lose their healthy and happy lives. As a primary care physician and geriatrician, he provides both ambulatory and inpatient care services. He also participates in various formal and informal clinical research mentoring activities for medical students, postgraduate trainees, and visiting scholars at University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine and School of Public Health.
