Adult Psychiatry & Mental Health
The UNLV Health Mojave Counseling outpatient clinic has been serving clients with mental illness in Las Vegas for more than 25 years. The clinic provides services to adults, adolescents, and children having a psychiatric disability or mental illness in a comprehensive multi-disciplinary manner. Clinicians and staff strive to help people maximize their health, wellbeing, and quality of life.
Services are provided for individuals with fee-for-service Nevada Medicaid or Medicare. Eligibility for each service is determined through a comprehensive clinical assessment.
In collaboration with UNLV School of Nursing (SON) outpatient primary care services are also provided to the community by Terry Bartmus, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC. Click here for bio.
First Episode Psychosis (FEP) Program
Along with the State of Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health, began the development of the UNLV Health-Mojave Counseling First Episode Psychosis (FEP) Program in January 2020. The FEP program was modeled after the successful, evidence-based NAVIGATE program and is a comprehensive program providing early and effective treatment to individuals who have experienced a first episode of psychosis. Therapy
Licensed therapists provide outpatient counseling, individual and group to adults. Therapists have specialized training and experience in treating a variety of mental health issues and behavioral concerns. Our focus is on providing evidenced-based therapeutic intervention to effectively achieve solutions.
Case Management
Case management offers representative payee services, intensive service coordination of care for qualified adults. A dedicated and resourceful team of case managers assist individuals in gaining access to medical, social, educational and other support services including access to housing resources and transportation needs.
Components of the service include assessment, care planning, referral, and monitoring. Case managers are committed to helping individuals achieve independence. Mojave case management services also provide support for the County’s Mental Health Court Program. Clients who have had legal and court appearances which are perceived to be caused in large part by their psychiatric disability and who voluntarily agree to participate will receive up to three years of intensive court and case management services in order to stop the revolving door of psychiatric relapse behaviors and jail.
Day Treatment
Day treatment is provided for adults and is offered from 9 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Dynamic and skilled staff offer treatment focused on restoring functioning to the highest possible level. Group topics include self-esteem, problem-solving, anger management, goal-setting, interpersonal skills and health management.
Unique opportunities to regain skills are available through participation in units such as public relations and creative expression. Also, the retail unit allows participants to practice skills such as interpersonal relations, organization, and hygiene in an on-site thrift store and restaurant.
The young adult day treatment program offers special programming for adults ages 18-25. The program is held from 9 am to 11 am, Monday to Thursday.
A focus is on preparation for integration into the local community, with skill enhancement through work and education-related experiences.
Transportation assistance is available for qualified individuals to and from the day treatment program.
Psychiatry Services
Weekly clozapine clinic, onsite laboratory services, and long-acting medication injections.
